Trece (Thirteen) appeared in our lives while we were going to collect donations of fresh food. Suddenly we were amazed to see a baby pig running alone and terrified along the dirt road.

The two people who were in the van looked at each other and quickly understood that it was our turn to act.

After a little while of trying, we were able to pick her up and even though she was very, very scared, it was INCREDIBLE to feel how she relaxed in a matter of minutes in our arms 

A beautiful baby who needed our help and we are so grateful to the universe for putting us on there.

WE ARE GRATEFUL to have helped her and to know that she now has a warm bed and the love that this beautiful princess deserves.

First piglet we had at the sanctuary.

Thanks to her we began to welcome animals of all species.

Betty is now one of the oldest in the sanctuary.

Lola

Lola is an albino Vietnamese pig that we rescued from the kennel in Almería. Like all albino animals, they are more delicate than the rest.

Still Lola is happy rolling in the mud and eating corn with the rest of the herd.

Espartaco

Espartaco is a male Vietnamese pig, already neutered, who came to La Candela through other companions.

The now-extinct sanctuary in Zaragoza, Liberando Ángeles, was just getting started when it took in Espartaco, but some time later they were forced to close the Sanctuary, so they had to quickly relocate the few animals they had at the time.

This is how Espartaco crossed our destiny and entered our family to stay, becoming one more candlestick. We think the photo says it all about how happy he is living with us.

Lisa’s babies are one of the few inhabitants who have been lucky enough to be born in the Sanctuary, so she will never know the horror that her mother experienced.

Lisa, a Vietnamese pig rescued from a terrible fire caused by the owner of the farm where she lived, who suffered from Noah’s Syndrome and blew up several butane cylinders.

Luckily, now mother and children enjoy getting to know their new home every day, full of pampering and love, with the peace of mind of knowing that they are in a safe place where they can be free.

They were rescued by some activists. And since then they have not been separated from each other at any time. They are also very very affectionate with the human team of La Candela. Breakfast time makes them especially excited. They arrived as babies and now they are all big men.

Karma and Destino arrived from a flat in Madrid.

The industry needs to dehumanize our soul, it needs you not to look them in the eye: because they are their raw material, your compassion, your empathy or your kindness will make them lose money. Karma lives happily, she loves hanging out with Destino and Jano.

Lisa and Jordi were rescued together to the great surprise that Lisa was pregnant.

Their babies were all born free in the sanctuary and live happily as a family.

Lisa and Jordi have an autoimmune disease and need special care.

Fiona es una cerddita súper simpática y juguetona. Llegó con muchísimo miedo de personas y otros animales pero eso es ya cosa del pasado ahora convive con el grupo.
