Trece (Thirteen) appeared in our lives while we were going to collect donations of fresh food. Suddenly we were amazed to see a baby pig running alone and terrified along the dirt road.

The two people who were in the van looked at each other and quickly understood that it was our turn to act.

After a little while of trying, we were able to pick her up and even though she was very, very scared, it was INCREDIBLE to feel how she relaxed in a matter of minutes in our arms 

A beautiful baby who needed our help and we are so grateful to the universe for putting us on there.

WE ARE GRATEFUL to have helped her and to know that she now has a warm bed and the love that this beautiful princess deserves.

Verónica was rescued from the Almería kennel through the Red Footprint association. It has a smaller size than the rest of the horses because it is a mix of horse and pony.

But her size does not make her special, she is one more integrated in the entire herd of horses that live with other donkeys and cows.

Vicente comes from the Santuario de la Pepa together with the blonde from Légolas because they could not treat them as they deserved. He did so without castrating and with a temperament that we had rarely seen. A true pirate.

The years, the castration, the hierarchy of the pack… have made our wild child little by little become more and more our friend.

For us, respecting their characters and personalities is extremely important in order to provide them with what they need.

Carmen

Carmen is a very old mare that we rescued in 2016 from the kennel in Seville.

She arrived pregnant where she gave birth to a beautiful foal named Luca. She requires special care due to her age.

He lives with Humi separately from the rest of the horses because they are too competitive for them.

Rayo

Rayo is the son of precious India.

He was born free and never knew the horrors of his mother’s past. His mother, India, was rescued along with Boy and Reina when they gave us the notice because they were left tied up on the road without water or food.

Taking care of them and getting them to be well is hard work, we don’t always have the same help but we leave our lives for them.

He was rescued before being sacrificed in the place where he was born, the reason was none other than his special face: an aesthetic aspect that if not taken care of can cause serious consequences for growth, even death.

From time to time we carry out x-rays to control the state of his bones, which until approximately 4 years of age will not stop moving in an unusual way: his mouth has very special care as well as the review of his respiratory system that could also be affected without constant clinical control.

He is a happy being, an innocent child who enjoys the company of the volunteers and the rest of the pack, who have accepted him as one more.

POLVORIN a fighting bull with a different destiny than most bulls of this breed: he was not going to die in a bullring, he was going to be free.

He was going to have The Light to illuminate the path of many others that we hope to receive in these lands of freedom.

They tortured him in Medinaceli in 2015 and we went there for him: feeling closely the horror of that herd of gladiators destined to amuse the lowest moral rank in this country.

And with us she came and enlightened at every step a hope for many others: a learning that has not been a path of roses but that of course is being incredibly immense.

After a complaint from an individual, we learned about the terrible situation of Martita, her mother Doña Isabel, and many other animals on a farm near Seville.

Thousands of cows are exploited and mistreated on consumer farms, where they are born without a name, where they are separated from their daughters at birth… where their lives are only worth as long as they continue to produce profit.

Doña Isabel and Martita today have a name and are respected, cared for and loved like all the animals that inhabit the La Candela Sanctuary.

India

Their life is free and is protected by all of us, who will never give up our fight for them.

Like human children, the first years of life of the fillies are summed up to the most basic practical learning and the creation of the personality bases that will define their survival and the role that they will later develop within the herd.

India is the boss and her pretty little girl already occupies a very important place for everyone: they take care of her and love her in common, they take care of her and stimulate her like a big family of uncles, cousins and brothers.

Hade

Hade is one of the few inhabitants who have been lucky enough to be born in the sanctuary, the little girl has been bottle-fed with us since she was born. When Ceniza, her mother, was rescued she was pregnant with little Hade.

The stress of the trip caused Ceniza to give birth early, thus giving birth to Hade prematurely on February 29, 2016.
